Ho Waiting

As soon as I saw this on my prescription, I laughed out loud. Yes, I am a HO waiting. (First two letters of my last name..and I was waiting for the prescription, not picking it up later....hence the label.) Little do they know how appropriate that title is! LOL!

Well, it's official. I am S-I-C-K.

I visited the doctor (not my usual one unfortunately) on Wed and I found out that my headaches have been caused by:

1. Sinus Infection (correctly diagnosed by the masterful Melissa)
2. Ear Infection (my ear, which didn't even hurt, is apparently is worse than the sinus infection)

and, possibly,

3. Temporal Arteritis (a constricting of the arteries in your head)...this, though, was looked into the informative and lovely Jackie and is not very common and is usually a condition of people over 50. So, I probably will not have to worry about this. I'm having xrays, blood tests and, if necessary, an MRI to see if I have this. I don't think it will be necessary for me to have the MRI, though....I think everything should be okay. Just cross your fingers anyway.

Here are my drugs:

Nice, huh? The doctor also told me that my muscles (in my back, neck, shoulders and head) are extremely tense and gave me muscle relaxants as well. Have yet to take those....I'm a bit nervous about it and think I might just get a massage instead. Safer and definitely more enjoyable.

Also, a small update on the lace and Ben sweater:

Lace Edging in Progress

The Body and One Arm of Ben's Reversible Sweater

And.....guess what else I made (while sitting in bed sneezing and moaning...not necessarily related to each other....LOL!)???

A BEN SOCK!!!

Melissa placed Knit Picks order a couple weeks ago and I ordered some of their new self striping, superwash merino/nylon, fingering weight sock yarn called "Felici". It is one of the nicest and softest sock yarns that I've knit with. Nice colors, great striping, soft as butter (very close to Regia Striping sock yarn), and the yarn didn't split once. I have to buy more colors!

Details

Pattern: Ann Norling's Basic Baby and Kid Socks #26
Size: 7 inch foot, 4 inch leg (for a size 11 or 12 child's shoe)
Yarn: Knit Picks' Felici sock yarn.
Needles: Size US 2 dpns, bamboo
Gauge: 7 stitches to the inch
Time: 24 hours for one sock. On my way to make the second.

Ben loves his sock....and now, instead of asking "Is my sweater done yet?"...he is also asking me..."Is my other sock done yet?" Oh, the pressure!!!

Now, lemme ask you a question: (for the podcast)

"What is your favorite knitting book and why? And, also...along the same lines....is there one pattern book that you always go back to over and over again? If so, what is it?"

And, this is for Chris.....

While I have my peppermint tonight, I will think of you.

(he he...just teasing....)

Hi Ho,

I commented on Jackie's blog so I figured I'd better comment on yours too.

Love Ian

P.S. How did the pharmacist know that you are a HO?

I just bought some of the Felici yarn, too. It is sooooo soft!

I'm glad you're getting to the bottom of the headaches. I completely understand how awful they are.

HOpe you feel better soon!
My favorite book is the One Skein Wonders book (this one http://www.amazon.com/One-Skein-Wonders-Judith-Durant/dp/1580176453 )

I'm not glad that you have sinus and ear infections, but I am glad that you have finally been diagnosed and are getting some treatment! Speaking of which, I love me some muscle relaxers; I'll take yours if you don't want them ;-)

I've been thinking about that new sock yarn; I'm going over to knitpicks right now to get me some! (cuz I do not have enough sock yarn).

Ok the label is very funny. A sinus infection can really cause problems. Hope all the yucky tests come out a ok.

Oh you Ho. Too funny. I hope the drugs take care of those nasty infections quickly.

I love that the duckie seems to be reading the prescription label.

The sock came out beautiful and the sweater is coming along.

My favorite knitting book has to be my stitch dictionary, Big Book of Knitting Stitch Patterns, because I use it all the time. For a "go to" pattern in a book, that would have to be Knitting Vintage Socks by Nancy Bush for the basic ribbed sock. I also love to read this one over and over.

Gina,
I'm so sorry I haven't been around to comment-as we speak I'm just around the corner from you on vacation at the Cape. Well, not just around the corner but closer than Germany. Anyway, I'm downloading my podcasts to take with me running and I saw how sick you are, I hope you're feeling better soon!!!!! I'm sending healing vibes with this comment and I hope they work. I hope to be reading again soon!! Hugs brought over from Germany!

Oh dear! I'm so sorry to hear about your ailments and I hope that the tests reveal no health problems. If you do decide to take a muscle relaxer then don't knit lace!

My nephew called me Auntie Ho for many years because my sister used to call me Ho Ho (see there, I was twice as bad). We would aften receive funny looks from people when in public.

I love the reversable sweater and the striped socks for Ben. There is always something so very appealing to striped socks.

Get well hugs!

Love the label! The sweater is moving right along and those socks are too cute. I love self-striping yarn even if I don't knit socks.

Feel better soon!

Oh and the book I always seem to go back to is Last Minute Knitted Gifts. Guess that makes it a favorite.

Hah, I'm a See, so my scripts sometimes get put in the "C" bin. Hope your feeling better. Love your blog. Is it OK to have you as a link on my blog? I'm new at this.
I too got Felici, Hummingbird colorway.
